JD Welsh Cup

Saturday afternoon will see Connah's Quay Nomads begin the defence of the JD Welsh Cup with a trip to Guilsfield.
Guilsfield progressed to the third round following a second round victory over Dyffryn Nantlle Vale - a tight affair which ended 4-3 in their favour, this was after a 2-0 win over Wrexham-based Rhostyllen in late October. The Guils currently sit 7th in the Huws Gray Alliance, having defeated Flint Town United 3-0 this past weekend. Their top scorer and man to watch will be Steve Blenkinsop, who currently has six goals this campaign, sitting joint third in the Alliance's goalscorer charts.
The Nomads meanwhile come into the game at the top of the JD Welsh Premier League following an impressive 3-0 victory over Llandudno last Saturday and will be looking to defend the JD Welsh Cup at the first time of asking. Our last game in the competition was the final in May where we ended the game as 4-1 victors over Aberystwyth Town, picking up the historic piece of silverware for the first time in the club's history.
The last time we visited Clos Mytton was just two months before the appointment of Andy Morrison at the club, in a Welsh League Cup game which was forced into extra time after it finished 0-0 at full time. Three quick-fire goals from The Nomads through substitutes Nick Rushton and Sean Miller gave The Nomads the 3-0 victory to progress to the next round back in 2015.
The game kicks off at Clos Mytton at 2:30pm on Saturday afternoon and will be covered live by our Twitter account as usual.
