Nathaniel MG Cup
|03.10.17 | 7:45pm|
Tonight's game against Bangor City sees The Nomads' first foray into the Nathaniel MG Cup as we welcome the visit of Bangor City.
The game marks the third match up in the past two weeks between the two sides, including an abandoned match at Bangor, followed up by a 1-0 defeat in the replay at Nantporth last week.
Last season saw The Nomads make it to the semi finals for the second season in succession, however eventual winners The New Saints were to end The Nomads' run in the competition. Bangor meanwhile were also knocked out by The New Saints in the previous round. This season, Bangor started out in the first round with a 5-2 victory over Denbigh Town, while The Nomads were given a bye into the second round due to qualification for the Irn Bru Cup.
The Nomads come into the game on the back of a hard fought 1-0 victory at Newtown on Saturday evening, while Bangor will be looking to bounceback from a late home defeat at the hands of Barry Town United earlier on Saturday afternoon.
Ahead of the game, Andy Morrison said "It's a chance for lads that are coming back from suspension and injury to get some time in their legs and we'll be giving a couple of the younger lads a start as well because we've got to protect what we've got at the moment - I'm looking at my bench [against Newtown] and I'm trying to look how I can make a positive change to try and go and affect the game and get a
foothold maybe further up the pitch and the options are very limited."
The game kicks off at Deeside Stadium at 7:45pm and will be decided on the night - should it be required, extra time and penalties will be used, and the new ABBA penalty format would be utilised if required.
