The Nomads have this afternoon been drawn against Denbigh Town in the second round of the Nathaniel MG Cup.
The competition, formerly known as theWord Cup, is the Football Association of Wales' League Cup and started this past week with games being played across Tuesday 6th and Wednesday 7th of September. The competition got off to a flying start with no less than 63 goals being scored in the 12 games taking place - an average of nearly five and a half goals per game, with the highest scoring game being the 4-4 draw between Prestatyn Town and Bangor City which eventually saw The Citizens emerge victorious after a 3-1 penalty shootout win.
The Nomads received a bye to the second round of the competition following their exploits in the UEFA Europa League, as did Denbigh Town as a result of their place in last season's final.
The two sides met last season in one of Andy Morrison's first games in charge of The Nomads and despite dominating the game, a solitary late strike from Sam Jones was enough to secure a place in the final for Denbigh. The two sides met in pre-season at Denbigh and the game ended with a 4-1 victory for a young Nomads' side thanks to an own goal and strikes from Matty Owen, Jake Jones and Jake Leonard.
On the draw, Nomads Manager Andy Morrison said "It won't be easy against last year's finalists in Denbigh, but in the cup, you will always take a home tie, so we are happy."
The full draw for the second round is as follows;
Haverfordwest County vs Aberystwyth Town
Carmarthen Town vs Goytre FC
Barry Town United vs Cardiff Met
The New Saints vs Bala Town
Guilsfield vs Newtown
Cefn Druids vs Bangor City

Llandudno vs Rhyl
The games of the second round will take place on Tuesday, October 4th.
