NEVILLE

POWELL

Appointed player-manager of Connah’s Quay Nomads during the summer of 1993, Neville served the Club with distinction for 14 years.

In his first season at the Halfway Ground, as joint manager with Phil Evans, The Nomads won the North Wales Coast Challenge Cup for the first, and only time.

Twelve months after Evans left in 1995, Neville led the Club to the final of the League of Wales League Cup where The Nomads triumphed over Ebbw Vale thanks to a Peter Hughes goal.

Two years later, the Club reached the final of the prestigious Welsh Cup only to lose on penalties to Bangor City, Neville’s former team.

Born in Flint, Neville’s footballing ability shone through at an early age and it was no surprise when, as a teenager, he was signed by Tranmere Rovers.

He made his Football League debut against Torquay United in 1981/82 scoring Rovers’ winning goal that day.

After making over a century of league and cup appearances for the Prenton Park side, Neville joined Bangor City in 1984 and played for them in Europe including a tie against the might of Atletico Madrid.

A broken leg suffered in the first game of the 1996/97 season ended Neville’s playing days after 111 league and cup appearances for Nomads and seven goals.

Following his return to Bangor City as manager in 2007, Neville led The Citizens to three consecutive Welsh Cup final victories between 2008 and 2010 and followed up by clinching the Welsh Premier League title in 2011.
