Connah's Quay Nomads defeated Aberystwyth Town by two goals to nil on Wednesday evening in the JD Cymru Premier at Deeside.
A John Disney penalty sent Nomads ahead in the 9th minute, with an Aeron Edwards goal in the 27th enough to see Connah's Quay take all three points.
• Early Disney penalty gives Nomads advantage
• Aeron Edwards slots in to secure two goal lead before the break
• Nomads dominate amid flurry of chances
• Andy Morrison's side undefeated so far
The game was Nomads' fourth fixture of the JD Cymru Premier season, and they came into unbeaten after taking seven points from their first three matches.
The latest of those was an emphatic 4-1 win over Haverfordwest County on Sunday, in which a brace from Craig Curran, plus goals from Declan Poole and Aeron Edwards overcame the Bluebirds.
Andy Morrison made only one change from his previous line up, with Danny Holmes replacing Callum Roberts and Michael Wilde featuring on the bench alongside U19s Sam Williams and Harry Owen.
Aberystwyth, who had so far taken five points from four games, started captain Marc Williams, Rhys Davies and a signing they had secured from Penrhyncoch just 24 hours before their trip to Deeside, defender Jonathan Foligno.
The game started and much of it was played out in the midfield as Nomads sought to take control of possession, but the first chance went to Aberystwyth when Jamie Veale hit the crossbar with a chip shot over keeper Lewis Brass on five minutes.
Nomads responded instantly, with Poole crossing well to Curran in the Aber area who headed high and up onto the roof of the net. In the ninth minute, their pressure paid dividends as a handball was awarded seeing the referee point to the spot.
With some of Nomads' more recognised penalty takers unavailable, John Disney stepped up and made no mistake slotting into the left hand side of the net to make it 1-0.
Having taken the lead, they were controlling possession well and causing problems in the final third for Aberystwyth, with centre half and acting captain Priestley Farquharson taking up a role upfront and linking up well with Declan Poole.
Poole also helped Nomads win two corners as the game approached the 20th minute, and although they weren't converted, they were utilised well to keep the ball in the visitor's half thanks to some composed passing and good movement from Connah's Quay.
In the 27th, this possession again converted successfully when after a run from Poole saw Danny Davies receive the ball and run into the area before cutting it back to Aeron Edwards who slotted in on the edge of the box.
Aeron Edwards led Nomads' push for a third before the interval, and he nearly succeeded in the 37th minute when his low driving shot from 20 yards was pushed away by TNS loanee Connor Roberts in goal for Aberystwyth.
Despite this, they went in at half time with the score remaining at 2-0 knowing they were fully in control of the proceedings so far at Deeside.
After the restart, Aberystwyth looked won a free kick on 47 minutes, but Nomads dealt with this quickly before again taking up the majority of the possession.
Nomads won a series of corner balls in the second half, seen in the 53rd when they won two consecutively before keeping the ball deep in the final third with long throw ins.
On 58 minutes, Poole went close to making it three with a low effort from the edge of the area which went just wide.
This was a chance which reflected the half with Connah's Quay almost constantly creating chances on goal whilst Lewis Brass went untested in the Nomads' goal.
After the hour mark, Michael Wilde was introduced in place of Priestley Farquharson, and got involved up top straight away as a flurry of corner balls continued.
On 69 minutes, Danny Davies, who was making good runs down the left wing for Nomads, scooped a ball up for Wilde who was at the Aberystwyth goalmouth, but the ball just evaded him as their search for a third went on.
Jay Owen also nearly got himself on the team sheet when he shot at goal with a low effort from 22 yards, but saw it go just wide of the left post.
Callum Morris then came on in place of Declan Poole and played a leading role in the final stage of the game, seeing multiple efforts stopped thanks to some brave defending from Aberystwyth and keeper Roberts.
The attacking went on as the game entered its final 10 minutes, in which Andy Morrison made his final substitution replacing Aron Williams with Craig Curran.
In the 90th minute Nomads still hadn't given up, seeing Callum Morris shoot wide from 18 yards before Edwards had a certain goal cleared just a couple of yards from the goal line.
After three minutes of injury time, the victory was confirmed sending Nomads to second in the JD Cymru Premier table. They will now look to continue their undefeated start at Cefn Druids on Saturday 3rd October for a 2:30pm kick off.
