Connah's Quay Nomads played out a goalless draw with Barry Town at Jenner Park on Saturday evening.
In a game where the official's decisions proved the main talking points, the two sides took a point each from the encounter, which was the Sgorio game of the week, broadcast live on S4C.
• John Disney shown controversial red card in 2nd minute
• Nomads went on to match Barry in a stalemate encounter
• Barry see goal disallowed early in the second half
• David Cotterill shown red card in final moment
The live Sgorio game completed a full card of JD Cymru Premier fixtures, with Connah's Quay and Barry Town both looking to bounce back from losses.
The hosts Barry had struggled with injuries and gone 4-0 down to Bala, whilst Nomads were left disappointed with a 1-0 loss at TNS despite a great performance at Park Hall.
However, prior to those results, Nomads and Barry had enjoyed good starts to the JD Cymru Premier campaign which placed them 2nd and 4th in the league respectively.
Andy Morrison made no changes to his side, with Callum Morris captaining a line up including Aeron Edwards and Danny Davies, who won Sgorio's man of the match in the clash with TNS.
His counterpart Gavin Chesterfield was without talisman Kayne McLaggon, but started No.10 Jordan Cotterill with Clayton Green also starting on his return from injury.
The opening minutes of the game were marred by one of its most controversial moments, as John Disney was sent off after just two minutes for a foul on Curtis Hutson.
Disney came across Hutson on the run, and referee Bryn Markham-Jones judged his actions as a red card offence despite the protests of the visiting Nomads.
Andy Morrison's side were forced to quickly adjust to the challenge of playing what would become over 90 minutes of football with 10 men against Barry's 11, and did well to play out an even half at Jenner Park.
On seven minutes Nomads' first chance arrived, with Craig Curran having a header saved from an Aron Williams cross.
Clayton Green was pushing for Barry to attack the Connah's Quay end, but was booked for a foul on centre half Priestley Farquharson.
After 10 minutes, Nomads looked to utilise their strong track record on set pieces, forcing two in the 13th which were taken by Sameron Dool and Kris Owens respectively, with both threatening the goal but without creating a clear cut chance.
Lewis Brass was largely uninvolved in the first half thanks to Nomads controlling a good amount of the possession, but was called into action on 19 minutes to sweep the ball away from Green after a dummy from Farquharson.
Nomads were knocking for chances at the Barry end, with Aeron Edwards and Aron Williams looking lively in the final third.
Williams was causing problems with targeted long throw-ins at the Barry end, with Aeron Edwards hunting down the ball inside the area as he looked to open the scoring.
As half time approached, the game was even and settled, which spoke volumes for Connah's Quay composure and organisation after going down to ten men early on in the game.
In the 41st, Nomads had a corner cleared, but kept the pressure on with an Aron Williams throw in which was headed just over by Aeron Edwards in the last real chance of the first half.
The second half again commenced in controversial fashion, as Barry Town thought they had scored in the 47th, after Kyle Patten converted a free kick from David Cotterill, but it was ruled out for a foul on Lewis Brass.
Nomads looked to reply just two minutes later when Dool crossed into the Barry box and had the ball flicked into the goalmouth by Edwards towards Curran. He had the chance to slot in at close range, but Green got there first with a last minute clearance.
After this lively restart, the game again went into a stalemate as Nomads looked to break it with Danny Davies making good runs down the wing and Farquharson commanding the defence well.
After the hour mark, there was a chance for Barry as Jordan Cotterill headed at goal from an Evan Press cross, but Lewis Brass was able to collect the effort.
On 65 minutes, Andy Morrison made his first change as Jay Owen was brought on for Sameron Dool and quickly joined the battle for possession in the midfield.
As the game went into the final 20 minutes, the deadlock continued despite 10-man Nomads' efforts to break it, seen in the 75th when Farquharson headed a Jay Owen free kick onto the roof of the Barry net.
Into the final 10 minutes Nomads' resolve was tested, as they were forced to deal with some late injuries after Kris Owens took a knock and was replaced by Callum Roberts.
They also saw no less than three players go into the book during the closing stages, with Declan Poole and Lewis Brass both seeing yellow after referee Markham-Jones ruled them to be timewasting.
Farquharson was also booked for manhandling as he continued to keep the hosts out of the Nomads' area as four additional minutes of injury time were indicated by the fourth official.
There was to be no further chances during this period as the deadlock went on, but the game did end with another red card, this time for Barry's David Cotterill.
In the final moment of the game, he kicked out at Declan Poole and was dismissed in an end to stalemate evening at Jenner Park.
Nomads will now return to Deeside to face Newtown in a behind closed doors game on Friday 23rd October for a 7:45pm kick off.
