Pre-season preparations continued on Tuesday night as The Nomads picked up a comfortable 5-0 win over Llandudno at the OPS Wind Arena.
The game saw Craig Harrison shuffle his starting eleven from Saturday's young team with new goalkeeper Andy Firth make his Nomads debut in goal whilst Mike Wilde returned up front for the first time since re-joining the club.
Firth made a good save from a Llandudno free kick with just two minutes on the clock and it only took Wilde nine minutes to get on the scoresheet as he rose highest inside the box to get on the end of an Aeron Edwards cross and just three minutes later he was denied a second by a great save from Pearson in the Llandudno goal.
George Horan doubled The Nomads' advantage in the 19th minute with a bullet header from an Aron Williams corner and shortly after the heat-induced drinks break, Harry Franklin was twice denied before Horan narrowly headed wide again from a corner. The last action of the half saw Franklin's through ball evade Mike Wilde, but almost sneak past Pearson in the home goal.
Half time saw Josh Williams (who turns 18 on Wednesday) replace Mike Wilde and Williams quickly took control of the play in midfield before linking up nicely with Harry Franklin and Callum Morris to score his first goal for the first team.
Franklin would then turn goalscorer just a few minutes later as John Disney flicked an Aron Williams cross goalbound and Franklin headed in at the back post. It was then Aron Williams turn to get in on the act as he got on the end of a through ball before firing a thunderous half-volley home to make it 5-0 on the night.
Our next pre-season fixture will see a trip to Llanelian Road to face Colwyn Bay on Tuesday 19th July for a 7:30pm kick off.
