Connah’s Quay Nomads suffered a narrow 3-2 loss to Caernarfon Town in a pre-season friendly as preparations for our UEFA Europa Conference League campaign got underway.
The Nomads’ European opponents were revealed as Slovenian side NK Bravo last Tuesday and today’s match against Caernarfon was a frustrating one given the result, but it still gave Neil Gibson’s team the chance to get some key minutes on the board ahead of the European matches in July.
Callum Bratley assisted both Ben Nash and Tyler Berry as The Nomads brought the scoreline back to 2-2 after the Cofis took a two-goal lead inside 20 minutes courtesy of goals from Darren Thomas and Danny Gosset.
The Nomads rotated the line up in both halves and did extremely well to find an equaliser, but Caernarfon, who will also be representing Wales in the UEFA Europa Conference League next month, snatched the win as Marc Williams found the net 15 minutes from time.
New signing Chris Marriott featured for The Nomads after his arrival earlier in the month while the rest of the squad included a host of familiar faces and academy stars.
A maiden first team goal for teenager Tyler Berry was fully deserved after his incredible 2023/24 season for our U18s and U21s. The talented forward scored 35 times for The Nomads last season and his impressive cameo against the Cofis will for sure be noted by Neil Gibson and his staff.
