CONNAH'S Quay went to the top of their group, but Porthmadog were left wondering how they left Deeside with nothing to show for their efforts.
The visitors took the lead on 28 minutes when Nomads' keeper Terry McCormick failed to gather a Mark Gornall corner and Paul Roberts volley the loose ball into the net.
But the hosts were back on level terms within five minutes, player-manager Mark McGregor rising unmarked to head past Richard Morgan from a Sam McNutt free-kick.
Two minutes later the hosts went ahead, referee Markham-Jones ruling that Gornall had handled and McNutt made no mistake from the resulting spot-kick.
Port unsuccessfully claimed an equaliser before half-time when McCormick scrambled a John Rowley header away and the visitorsclaiming that the ball had crossed the line.
But it was Nomads who scored next, just after half-time, when Mike Hayes got the final touch after a goalmouth scramble.
Ryan Davies reduced the decifit with 12 minutes remaining with a header from a Chris Jones corner, but despite good efforts from Roberts and Marc Evans, were forced to leave empty-handed.
