CONNAH'S Quay gained a second win on the bounce for the first time this season thanks to a first-half goal from Mike Hayes.
Porthmadog failed to score for the third game running and were forced to play the final half hour with 10-men following the dimissal of striker Paul Roberts.
The goal arrived after 20 minutes when Port failed to clear their lines from Allan Glover's corner and Hayes found the back of the net from 10 yards out.
Ryan Davies fired wide from the home side's first real opportunity but should have levelled on the stroke of half-time when Aden Shannon spurned a simple chance after Nomads' keeper Terry McCormick could only parry a Chris Jones shot.
After being reduced in numbers, the hosts produced some of their best football but McCormick saved from Ceri James and Shannon could only find the side netting.
And Quay could have added to their lead when Hayes brought a good save from keeper Richard Morgan, who tipped his effort over the bar, before denying Alan Hooley and Mark McGregor.
