ABERYSTWYTH remained in third place after a convincing away win at the Deeside Stadium.
The Seasiders established a three-goal comfort zone by half-time, with Geoff Kellaway lobbing advancing keeper Terry McCormick for the first from just outside the box following a long clearance.
Mike Hayes had a chance to level for Connah's Quay but sent his header straight at keeper Steven Cann after Craig Jones had looped the ball into the box.
But the hosts went further behind as Kellaway lashed a 12-yarder into the corner after evading a tackle from Alan Hooley.
Aaron Burns fired over from 25-yards for the Nomads, who conceded the third goal on the stroke of half-time, Luke Sherbon heading home from a Kellaway corner.
Burns twice went close to reducing the arrears in the second half, but could only produce a weak shot from a Craig Jones pass and was then wide at the near post.
And, after the dismissal of Jamie Petrie for a second caution, the visitors nearly had the last word against the 10-men when Kellaway was only denied a hat-trick by McCormick in a one-on-one.
