Bala hopes hit by Nomads

BALA'S season is in danger of turning sour after they garnered just one point from their Easter fixtures.

Held to a draw by the Nomads, Colin Caton's men must now target a heavy haul of points from their final three games, which includes games against Llanelli and Port Talbot.

The Lakesiders got the perfect start when Ross Jefferies headed against the bar before the ball crossed the line and John Toner thought he had added a second on the stroke of half-time only to be denied by an assistant's flag.

But Quay drew level when substitute Mike Hayes beat Danny Jellicoe to a long ball and headed under keeper Leon Bimpson just past the hour mark.

Two minutes later, Ben Alston - who was later sent off for a last man offence - headed into his own net in trying to clear a corner to put Bala back in front. But the visitors hit back again with a powerful Sam McNutt shot from the edge of the box to dash the home side's hopes once again.

Last man Alston got his marching orders after bringing down Mike Thompson on the edge of the box and the subsequent Ricky Evans free-kick was agonisingly wide.

And Chris Herbert looked to have snatched all three points for Nomads only for a linesman to rule the ball had gone out of play earlier.
