A goalless draw was a fatal blow to both sides' hopes of making the cut for next season's Welsh Premier and, despite free admission, only 307 decided to turn-up at Latham Park.
Newtown flattered to deceive, with Neil Mitchell a threat down the right, but there was no cutting edge to seriously trouble Nomads' keeper Terry McCormick.
It was Mitchell who went the closest for the Robins, seeing his first-half headed effort from an Adam Worton corner well saved by the Quay stopper.
In the second-half, Gavin Cadwallader came close to breaking the deadlock when his header from another Worton corner from the left scraped the bar, but it was Connah's Quay who nearly snatched all three points when Sam McNutt rattled the crossbar late on.
