The Nomads got their League Cup campaign up and running with a well-deserved victory at Welsh Premier League new boys Prestatyn.
Having lost their opening group game at home to The New Saints two weeks ago, Steve O'Shaughnessy's side bounced back thanks to recent signing Andy Alston.
The defender, who was partnering his brother Ben in the centre of defence, rose highest to powerfully head home a corner 10 minutes before the break.
On-loan Wrexham goalkeeper Chris Maxwell then produced another excellent display to ensure the points went the away side's way with a fine save from last season's leading scorer at Bastion Road, Steve Bowes.
Nomads boss O'Shaughnessy - who started the returning Craig Garside and threw captain Gary Pinch's younger brother Danny on for his senior debut - said: "It was a good game and I was really pleased with the result.
We made five changes to the side that lost on Saturday because I want to keep the lads who have not been getting a run out in the league fresh and sharp and put pressure on the lads who have got the shirts."
