Airbus resist The Nomads' fightback

Airbus took the honours in the Flintshire derby but, after establishing a comfortable 3-0 interval lead, they were forced to resist a late fightback from the Nomads to take the spoils and leap-frog their opponents into eighth place.

The Wingmakers soon put the misery of last week's Welsh Cup defeat behind them and looked the more threatening in the early exchanges.

Two goals inside six minutes midway through the first-half put them in control, Mark Allen first getting the final touch from close range following a right-wing corner.

And, from another set-piece, Gareth Sudlow celebrated his return from suspension with his first Airbus goal.

Things got worse for Nomads seven minutes before the break when a defender's slip down the right hand side allowed James McIntosh to burst forward and his initial pass was ferried across the box by Ronnie Morgan for Ashley Williams to convert.

Home boss Steve O'Shaughnessy threw on Paul Addo as an additional striker at half-time, but the hosts had to wait until the last 10 minutes to make a breakthrough.

Goals from Morgan and Liam Loughlin then ensured a nervy finish, but the visitors held out.
