Any lingering Nomads' euphoria from the Welsh Cup triumph over TNS was soon dispelled at Plas Kynaston after NEWI Cefn Druids hit five past hapless Quay.
But the Ancients had to survive conceding an early goal when Stewart White's second-minute strike stunned the home faithful.
Eight minutes later, Druids were back on level terms when Darren Williams found Chris McGinn, whose header gave visiting keeper Paul Pritchard no chance.
Geraint Lewis then scored a first-half brace to put the hosts in the driving seat, heading in from a Kevin Holsgrove corner for the first, before repeating the set piece routine just before the break.
Williams added a fourth on 51 minutes, but Nomads reduced the deficit when Jamie Petrie scored his first goal for the club with a shot past keeper Carl Edwards.
Druids remained in command and Williams completed his brace nine minutes from time to send the home side into the top half of the table.
