Lillies respond to Hulse urgings

Rhyl boss John Hulse asked his side to overcome the disappointment of defeat at Llanelli by securing a festive double and his players responded by winning the 'first leg' 5-0.

Lee Hunt led the way with a brace as the Lilywhites cruelly exposed the deficiencies in the Nomads' camp.

Chris Sharp opened the visitors' account on 14 minutes with a superb back post header from a Craig Jones cross and the wingman also provided another excellent delivery for Hunt to add another five minutes before the break.

The Nomads rarely threatened, with Rhyl's Matthew Holt going closest to getting a shot on target for the hosts by chipping his own keeper Lee Kendall and seeing the ball go narrowly wide.

Rhyl duly added a third when Andy Moran's pass set-up Jones and sub Dave Cameron was first to react to a half chance to tap home Rhyl's fourth when keeper Paul Pritchard could only parry a George Horan header.

Hunt put the icing on the Lillies' Christmas cake two minutes from time, latching onto a Gareth Wilson ball over the top to chip the advancing Pritchard.
