Newtown proved there is life after Marc Lloyd Williams as four separate players got their names on the scoresheet against hapless Connah's Quay.
The league's all-time leading scorer signed for Rhyl earlier in the week, but the Robins were two goals to the good inside eight minutes. Hugh Clarke's header from an Adam Worton cross gave the hosts a flying start and Glenn Tolley's deflected strike put them in the driving seat.
Tommy Mutton's header against his former club was disallowed but the third goal soon arrived when the ex-Nomad provided the cross for Richard Williams-Cook to fire past debutant keeper Adam Bedford.
Tom Baker did pull a goal back for the visitors before half-time, but the win was sealed on 72 minutes when Craig Moses lashed his shot from 25 yards into the top corner.
