A first Welsh Premier goal from Sam McNutt was all that separated the sides in a game that virtually ensured the Nomads' survival, while leaving Caersws dangerously close to the relegation trap door.
The deciding moment came after just 18 minutes when, following two corners in quick succession, a failed attempt to clear left McNutt to net via the inside of a post with keeper Andy Mulliner stranded.
With a strong wind behind them, Connah's Quay dominated the first-half, although Neil Mitchell did have a great chance for the Bluebirds, only to be denied by a superb save from keeper Paul Pritchard.
On the turnaround, Nomads produced a solid defensive display to frustrate their visitors and it was the home side who came closest to scoring through Chris Herbert, Craig Jones and Mark Cadwallader.
Caersws threw everything forward in the final minute, including keeper Mulliner, but failed to find an equaliser from a late corner.
