Llanelli celebrated their first Welsh Premier title with victory on Deeside, but they again needed a goal from prolific marksman Rhys Griffiths to take the spoils against the determined Nomads.
The home side enjoyed the best of the first half with Mark Cadwallader blasting over after being put in by Craig Jones and then forcing Reds' keeper Duncan Roberts to save from close range.
Sam McNutt's through ball saw Ged Courtney hit a post in another Connah's Quay raid, with home stopper Paul Pritchard enjoying a relatively quiet afternoon behind a resolute defence.
Griffiths fired clear of a gaping goal when put clear by Gary Lloyd, but made no mistake when a free-kick was headed clear to the edge of the box, firing quickly past Pritchard.
The striker might have added another but failed to find the target with the goal at his mercy, although it would have been less than the plucky Nomads deserved for their efforts.
