Nomads no pushover for TNS

TNS went top of the league but the scoreline barely did justice to Nomads' contribution.

After John Toner had hit the bar from Scott Ruscoe's cross in the third minute, the striker made no mistake two minutes later.

But despite constant pressure, Connah's Quay stood firm and went into the break just one goal down. Half-time substitutions saw the visitors start to come into the game and Christian Sargeant spurned a great chance to equalise when firing wide from Marc Limbert's corner.

Two more corners were dealt with on the hour mark before the visitors were hit with a sucker punch which saw Toner pick up a long ball to strike his second.

Minutes later it was all over as Phil Baker added another and, with TNS now back in control, Nicky Ward rounded off an eventually comfortable victory with the fourth goal.
