These are heady times on Deeside with Connah's Quay moving into second place after seeing off Port Talbot at Cae-y-Castell.
But the Nomads were forced to come from behind after conceding a 20th minute goal to the Steelmen, who defied the strong wind in their faces. Talbot keeper Kris Rogers produced a man-of-the-match performance and somehow kept out a scorching 25-yarder from Chris Sargeant, who will go to Edgeley Park for a trial with team-mate Adam Dickinson on Monday.
Rogers then kept out Craig Garside's effort before Town took the lead, Lee John cleverly chipping keeper Paul Smith from outside the box. Sargeant then hit a post before defender Dyfan Pierce cleared Tommy Mutton's shot off the goal line.
Home pressure was finally rewarded just after the hour, Sargeant picking his spot from 20 yards into the top corner. Rogers against denied the hosts when saving from Dickinson, but seven minutes from time Quay got a deserved winner. Dickinson provided for Mutton to sent a scorching 16-yarder into the far corner.
But Steelmen subs Richard French and Dane Williams almost snatched the win from the Nomads' grasp with late efforts.
