DELAYED by transport problems on their way down to the New Bridge Meadow, Connah's Quay made the long journey home empty handed.
Haverfordwest took the spoils thanks to a goal in each half from Richard Adams and substitute Tim Hicks.
A low-key first-half saw Nomads looking jaded after their trip and the Bluebirds took their chance when a Colin Loss free-kick found Wyn Thomas, who headed back across goal for Adams to head in at the far post.
Adams and Lee John provided the home side's main threat, although Nomads' Paul McDonnell twice went close with shots that shaved the post.
Strike pair Jamie Hughes and James Hussaney arrived in time to take their places in the Quay line-up at the break and they helped the visitors apply more pressure, with Hussaney forcing a great save from the Bluebirds' Lee Kendall in the 81st minute.
Haverfordwest were living on a knife edge until the 89th minute, when a low drive from Hicks made certain of a three-point start for Deryn Brace and his men - only their second win over Nev Powell's men in seven attempts on home soil.
