A SINGLE goal finally broke Caersws out of the bottom two and sentenced Connah's Quay to another set-back.
In a lacklustre game with few clear-cut chances, the vital goal arrived two minutes into the second half when Neil Mitchell crossed from the right to Neville Thompson, who miscued for Jamie Davies to score from nine yards out.
Debutante Phil Molyneaux causing problems in the home defence with an extremely long throw which flew wide of the back post with no Nomad able to get the finishing touch.
On the half hour a free kick from the left by Sean Jehu found the towering Neville Thompson, but Paul Smith pushed his header away for a corner.
Neil Mitchell caused the Nomads defence problems throughout the game with his electrifying pace while Quay striker Gary Reay tested home keeper Mulliner with a sweetly struck shot from 25 yards.
After taking the lead, the Bluebirds were guilty of resting on their laurels, but Nomads were unable to capitalise and it was the home side who came closest to another goal, with Ross Stephens hitting the side netting.
But home keeper Andy Mulliner was forced to produce his only real save of the match when he dived bravely at the feet of onrushing Nomads forwards.
Skipper Danny Jellicoe almost had the last laugh for Nomads, but he sent his last minute effort wide, much to the relief of the home supporters.
