GRAHAM Evans opened his TNS account as the leaders showed no hangover from their dual cup exits last week to record a comfortable victory over Connah's Quay.
Two goals mid-way through the first-half settled the Nomads' fate and only the woodwork, some smart saves from Paul Smith and some wayward finishing prevented a far higher margin of victory.
Nicky Ward had a hand in both goals, providing a superb through ball for Evans to notch his first goal for the club after 29 minutes.
And five minutes later, Ward powered a header past Smith after good work down the right and a cross from Michael Wilde.
The Saints signalled their intentions of resuming normal service in the first minute when Chris King clattered the crossbar from 20 yards, while Nomads had their only real chance on the quarter hour when Gary O'Toole's shot was well saved by Gerard Doherty.
In the second-half, Wilde saw his header well saved, but it was Graham Evans who took centre stage, chipping just over from the edge of the box, missing at the far post, having a further effort saved by Smith and then missing a sitter late on.
Sub Marc Lloyd Williams almost added to the tally when he hit a post before also having a last-minute header ruled out for offside.
