Nomads grab a lifeline

NOMADS grabbed a survival lifeline, but Aberystwyth hardly helped their own cause. Tom Billing picked up two yellow cards in the first half to leave the Seasiders to battle on with 10 men.

Following manager Nev Powell's exhortations to increase their strike rate, the Nomads' attack showed more purpose and Stuart Rain hit the top of the visitors' crossbar as early as the third minute.

The winner came eight minutes after the break when Tommy Mutton's through ball found Gary O'Toole who finished superbly from 16 yards.

Sean Meredith's drive was well saved by Quay keeper Paul Smith, who also covered another effort from Huw Jones.

A foul on Smith in the final minutes caused a skirmish in the home box, but Nomads held out for the vital points.
