Druids and Nomads edging to safety

BOTH Druids and Nomads edged a point closer to safety after sharing the spoils and would be heartened by news of Cwmbran's defeat at Park Avenue.

The Ancients were quick off the mark, although there was more than a hint of good fortune about their seventh minute goal. An Osian Jones cross from the left appeared to be heading out of play before taking a late dip and finding its way over keeper Paul Smith into the back of the net.

Nine minutes later the Nomads were back on terms when referee Evans adjudged Mark Hobson's tackle on Connall Murtagh to be unfair and Chris Williams fired home from the spot.

Quay went ahead on the stroke of half-time when Phil Molyneaux got on the end of a long clearance and slotted past the advancing Peter Pahulyi.

Nomads survived a penalty appeal five minutes after the break when Matthew Cook came down in the box, but the home faithful did not have long to wait for the equaliser. Darren Williams beat the offside trap and lifted the ball over Smith.
