The Nomads were defeated by three goals to two by Cefn Druids on Friday evening with goals from Tom Donegan, Derek Taylor and Dan Griffiths overcoming Nomads who scored via Gary O'Toole and Jamie Rainford.
Nomads went into the game searching for their first win of the season following a loss at Prestatyn and a draw at home to Carmarthen. Former Nomad Chris Herbert's Cefn Druids were also looking for their first win of the season having lost to Aberystwyth but earned a well fought draw at the Belle Vue vs Rhyl.
Nomads started a team with an attacking outlook, starting Luke Holden, Gary O' Toole and Jay Colbeck. Cefn Druids boasted a strong defence, the 6 feet tall Chris Rimmer and Bruno Fernandes within their ranks.
Gary O Toole got the first chance of the game with a shot that was cleared by keeper Dave Roberts in a sweeping role. Peter Doran crossed the ball into a Nomads box where no of his team mates were to connect with it. This was characteristic of an opening period of the game which had seldom major chances as both sides settled into the game.
The first major chance was the goal for Nomads, which came when Luke Holden crossed the ball virtually onto the goal line before Gary O' Toole could poke the ball in thanks to a defensive hesitation by Druids.
9 minutes later, Druids burst back into the game with the equalise from Tom Donegan. The striker was set up by Taylor, receiving the ball inside the box and drilling it past McCormick to send the scores level. Out of nowhere Druids were back into the game and visibly an elated side.
After the break, it was Druids that came out stronger and were rewarded for their determination when Derek Taylor cut through the nomads defence and simply passed the ball into the bottom left corner to send the home side 2-1 up.
A Nomads sub was made to try and add some fresh attack to their game when Rainford replaced Colbeck. With the confidence gained from their lead Druids were now forcing Nomads to soak up pressure with Donegan again coming close with a shot that forced McCormick to punch out for a corner.
After a further sub of Luke Holden for Chris Rowntree, Nomads changes were dealt with a blow when Gary Roberts was sent off by referee Huw Jones. From this stage Nomads looked the weaker team as the game became controlled by the hosts with Nomads the chasing side.
Jack Rowland's prevented the side from going 3-1 up earlier in the game when his last ditch tackle successfully deflected a Druids shot. The home side eventually got their third through Dan Griffiths who beat the offside trap to slot the ball past McCormick.
Jamie Rainford got his name on the scoresheet when he ran into the box and hit a straight shot down the middle to beat Roberts, but in vain of rescuing the game for Nomads as the full time whistle blew moments after Nomads second goal.
The result was disappointing for Nomads as they must continue their search for their first win of the season. They move onto a home clash against welsh premier league champions TNS, with a 2:30pm kick off.
