Four goals from trialists were shared evenly by The Nomads and Ashton United as the game ended 2-2.
Ashton started well and created a number of chances early on in the first half, with Terry McCormick performing well and putting a stop to a number of Ashton attacks, and their failure to put away a number of their key opportunities, as The Nomads took the lead just before half time. A good cross was floated in and our defensive trialist met the cross with a powerful header to put The Nomads 1-0 up.
Ashton started the second half well and forced two quick-fire goals within the first 15 mintues of the second half as an Ashton trialist hit two goals in a matter of minutes. The first was from a brilliant through ball which the trialist slid the ball in for an easy side foot shot. The second was after a mistake in The Nomads' defence and a powerful shot nestled into the bottom left-hand corner.
Following the quick turnaround, The Nomads returned the favour and brought the game level as a mix up in the Ashton defence saw the second Nomads' trialist of the day find the net to draw the game level.
Both teams had chances to take the win, but the game ended 2-2 - a good pre-season workout for both sides.
