RHYL just avoided a second successive defeat thanks to a stunning 87th minute strike from Michael Keegan.
A Nomads' defensive clearance went to Keegan 25-yards out and he returned the ball with interest past helpless keeper Craig Bryan to record his first goal for the club.
The Lilywhites had found Connah's Quay in determined mood and skipper Gareth Owen nearly opened the scoring for the Deeside men in the 13th minute, when his 25-yard chip sailed just over the bar.
But two minutes later Chris McGinn struck a home post from 10 yards and Keegan sent another effort over the bar from 20 yards.
With Rhyl starting to assert, skipper Timmy Edwards headed over while McGinn beat the off-side trap only to be foiled by a fine Bryan save just before the break.
However, it was the visitors who Rhyl were rocked eight minutes after the interval when the midfielder Craig Hutchinson collected Tommy Mutton's pass to hit a fierce drive into the top corner.
Chris Adamson's went close with a free kick and an Edwards was grabbed by Bryan as the Lillies went in search of an equaliser, Keegan's late effort denying Neville Powell's men their first home league win of the campaign.
