LEAGUE leaders TNS were dumped out of the competition after a scoreless stalemate at Treflan sent Connah's Quay through, courtesy of their first leg goal from Darren Williams.
The Saints paid the price for missed chances with Marc Lloyd-Williams coming closest to breaking the deadlock, smashing a shot against Lee Williams' crossbar in the 13th minute after being put in by Nicky Ward and hitting a post soon after the break from John Toner's right wing cross.
Nomads nearly took a first-minute lead when the ball broke clear to Stuart Rain who was denied by a fine stop from TNS keeper Gerard Doherty.
But the remainder of the first-half was almost all home offensive, with Scott Ruscoe firing wide and Ward shooting over from 12 yards.
Lloyd-Williams went close with a 15-yarder, but the TNS rhythm was disrupted by early injuries to Holmes and Ruscoe, who were both substituted.
In a rare attack sparked by skipper Gareth Owen, Tommy Mutton brought another good save from Doherty just before the break.
TNS created fewer opportunities in the second period and Mutton almost had the last word when he brought another good save from Doherty.
