The Nomads continued their pre season campaign with a visit to Conwy Borough FC, where they ran out 4-1 winners with goals from Morris, Ruane, Williams and Linwood.
This was the second match of the Nomads pre season and a significant challenge in a strong Huws Gray Alliance Conwy Borough outfit, which featured ex-Nomads Jack Rowlands, Chris Rowntree and Ben Collins.
The Nomads began the game, and at first, had to cope with some initial pressure from Conwy, which never seriously threatened goalkeeper George Deniz in his debut start for the first team.
The pressure was soon concentrated on the home side's final third where Nick Rushton was clear on goal and brought down by the goalkeeper inside the box, prompting the referee to point to the penalty spot. Callum Morris stepped up and scored, ensuring his name was on the scoresheet as it was in Nomads previous friendly versus Barnton.
The Nomads continued to attack the Conwy end and eventually doubled their lead via Ashley Ruane, who was able to simply pass the ball into the net at close range following an initial missed chance in front of goal by Miller.
The first half was very much a dominant display by Nomads, who went in 2-0 up at the break but knew they still had work to do in order to secure another pre season victory.
The moment of the match came at the beginning of the second half after Aron Williams had replaced Ashley Ruane. In his first involvement in the match Williams ran down the right wing, into the box and hit a low shot past the keeper to score. This was a great display of workmanship by a development squad player which would soon become common place in the match.
The game continued to have a competitive edge with Conwy far from out of it, until the game was all but sealed thanks to Paul Linwood who headed the ball over the keeper and into the net via a corner ball.
After this point in the game Nomads had another positive to be highlighted, with seven youth players on the pitch in Manley, Nash, Gaul, Roberts, Williams, Boyes and Chambers, who furthermore all put on a disciplined performance, and provided a reminder of the fundamental value for the development of youth players held at Nomads.
Nomads continued to play their game and may have scored more with chances such as Sean Miller heading just wide, yet the game ended with Nomads victorious by four goals to one, but more importantly, another successful pre season exercise completed.
Following the game, Assistant Manager Jay Catton said "A good result, more importantly, we've got the players the minutes under their belt, a slight increase from the Barnton game, the players are looking more like the 50-55 minute mark which is good, no injuries - always good in pre season, but no - a good performance, played well, pressed well, took some goals, where there could have been a lot more with the chances created, but no, another good workout."
