The Nomads won their third game of the 2015/16 season campaign 5-0 at Porthmadog FC, with the scorers a trialist, Miller, Linwood, Rushton and Jack Chambers.
It was over three years since The Nomads last encountered Porthmadog, with their last match a 6-3 win in which the now-football league player Rhys Healey scored two goals. Although the settings of Porthmadog's Traeth Stadium were idyllic as always, the Nomads were under no illusions to the strong Port outfit they were up against.
The Nomads' starting line up was ever-strong, led by Sean Miller and Nick Rushton up front. The game lasted only three minutes before a goal, when Aron Williams sent a great cross into the box for a trialist to send a low header into the bottom left corner of the net.
The second goal came less than a minute later, when straight from the restart Sean Miller ran into the box, received the ball and struck the ball neatly past the keeper. Just four minutes after the start, The Nomads had certainly made a big impact on the game.
However, this early score line does not reflect the energy and perseverance of Porthmadog FC, who battled with Nomads for a competitive first quarter of the first half before the game settled, meaning at the half time whistle the score remained Porthmadog 0-2 The Nomads.
The second half saw changes at the back for Nomads with McIntyre, Paul Linwood and Jack Riley joining George Horan at the team's defensive helm. This move didn't faze Porthmadog who continued to attack The Nomads end', but The Nomads held out in what was a composed performance.
The third goal of the game was perhaps the best of the bunch, when Paul Linwood stepped up 25 yards from goal, and sent the ball straight into the top left corner of the net. This goal ensured Linwood had his name on the score sheet once again after scoring against Conwy, but also a continued a pre season in which a host of summer signings have seen goals.
Up front, Nick Rushton was working tirelessly in front of goal but was denied many a time by the superb goalkeeping of Richard Harvey. Yet Rushton finally earned the fruits of his labour when Miller sent a square ball into the box for Rushton to hit first-time and get his goal.
The final goal of the game was the work of Jack Chambers, who came on in the second half along with Deniz, Roberts, Gaul and Rimmer. Chambers was perfectly positioned in the Porthmadog final third to head the ball into the top left corner of the net.
Shortly after this the full time whistle blew and Nomads had completed their third successful pre season game, in which they brought their goals tally to 13 overall.
The Nomads now depart the valleys of Gwynedd and will play their next game in the surroundings of Edgeley Park, where they face Stockport County FC on Saturday 1st August for a 3:00pm kick in what is one of the biggest pre season games in Nomads history.
