Connah’s Quay Nomads are delighted to confirm the signing of 25-year-old midfielder Iwan Murray.
Murray joins The Nomads from National League North neighbours Chester having made 28 starts for the Blues in the 25/26 season.
Iwan originally was a part of the Chester Academy and had a spell at Runcorn Linnets which saw him score 25 goals in 61 games for the club, pushing the Linnets to a Play Off Final.
His impressive form earned a move back to Chester in 2022 where he would go on to win the Young Supporters Player of the Season and Goal of the Season in the 2022/23 campaign.
Murray made over 150 appearances for Chester and joins The Nomads with a wealth of experience in the National North League.
On signing for The Nomads, Iwan commented;
“I’m really happy sign for Connah’s Quay Nomads. I was ready for a new challenge and I’m excited for the season ahead, starting with the European campaign in just a few weeks time.
I’m looking forward to working to make my mark in a new league and I know I’m joining a strong team who had a really good last season. I’m looking forward to getting going and showing what I can do!”
On his arrival at The Nomads, First Team Manager John Disney commented; “We as a club are delighted to secure the services of Iwan - he is a player who started off in the Welsh system before going on and having a really good career in the English system and as soon as I spoke to Iwan it was clear how driven he is and is a player that will certainly suit our playing style with his work rate and versatility.
I know that once Iwan had discussions with Chester that a number of clubs were keen to speak to him and we jumped at the opportunity and from minute one it was obvious how much he wanted to come back to Wales and play European football.
I am delighted he chose Connah’s Quay Nomads and as a staff we are really looking forward to working with him.”
