New Signing: Frankie Deane

Connah’s Quay Nomads are pleased to confirm the signing of 21-year-old central midfielder Frankie Deane.

Deane joins The Nomads after his most recent spell at Edinburgh City, who The Nomads famously defeated at Deeside Stadium in the Scottish Challenge Cup back in 2019.

Frankie was born in Motherwell, Scotland and spent a lot of his formative years at Celtic, playing regularly for the Hoops in their youth and development sides, including the Celtic B team that played in the Scottish Lowland League, signing his first professional contract for the side in 2021 aged just 16.

In 2022, Deane was signed by Burnley, before heading back to Scotland with Edinburgh City in 2023.

Despite being born in Scotland, Deane has represented the Republic of Ireland at U19 level.

On joining The Nomads Deane commented; “I’m absolutely buzzing to be here after a tough couple of years with setbacks and injuries.

It’s a great pleasure and privilege to get back playing with an exciting season ahead with the league and Europe - I can’t wait to get going!”

First Team Manager John Disney commented; “I am delighted to welcome Frankie to the club - he is a wonderful technical footballer with a fantastic background in the game, representing Ireland at youth level and coming through the system at Celtic and Burnley respectively.

Frankie will add a real quality in to our midfield and after a few setbacks recently is coming with a hunger to kick back on in the game and we think he will flourish here at Connah’s Quay.”
