Griffiths Appointed Nomads Women Manager In Full Restructure

Connah’s Quay Nomads are delighted to confirm the appointment of Andy Griffiths as our new Women’s First Team manager.

Griffiths, a UEFA B Licence holder, was once a key Men’s First Team player for the Nomads under former manager Neville Powell from 1999 - 2005 and now returns to begin a new era in our female setup.

Griffiths graduated from Wrexham’s academy, where he played professionally for the First Team squad and captained the reserves team. After his time at Wrexham, Griffiths went on to make 172 appearances for the Nomads in all competitions, scoring 19 goals during that time. In the 2003/04 season, Griffiths featured in every game for the Nomads, while he also played alongside legendary captain and Hall of Famer George Horan.

The 47-year-old already has key experience in the women’s game with a managerial stint at Tranmere and an U19s assistant role at Wrexham, where he recently embarked on a special tour to Hong Kong following their Genero Adran North U19 title win.

Griffiths also coaches at Neston Nomads, where two of our U10 stars Josh McGinty and Isaac Williams also feature for.

Our new boss will hope to bring joy and success in the Genero Adran North league, which we have won for the last two seasons, while also trying to achieve the club’s primary goal of gaining promotion into the Genero Adran Premier.

We’re also pleased to announce new roles for two of our longest serving members of our female section Aimee Redfern and Chris Redfern.

Aimee enters her fifth season at the Nomads, but this time makes the transition from playing into coaching as she becomes our Assistant Manager and will begin working with Andy Griffiths over the coming days. Aimee made 90 competitive appearances during her playing career at the club, lifting two Genero Adran North titles and two NEWFA Cups.

Chris will become our new Director of Women’s Football and will work closely with our management and off-field staff to ensure all operations run smoothly on matchdays and behind the scenes.

Neil Stevens will also be continuing his role as Coach as he prepares for his first full season with The Nomads.

We’re also delighted to announce Craig Rogers and Carl Butler as our new Women’s U19s / Development coaches.

Rogers holds the UEFA B Licence and has playing experience at Mold Alexandra, while Butler has formerly been a part of the Wales U21s setup. Both men will lead and develop a new club-record number of scholars and will build a clear pathway up to our Women’s First Team.

We are all truly excited for these new appointments and we hope you, the fans, can attend our matches as much as you can in the 2026/27 season to witness the new era.
