New Signing: Darren Stephenson

Connah’s Quay Nomads are pleased to announce the signing of 33-year-old striker, Darren Stephenson.

The Jamaican-born striker is best known to fans of the Cymru Premier for his recent spell at local neighbours Flint Town United, but has played throughout the English football pyramid during his career including spells at Bradford City, Tranmere Rovers, Stockport County and Chester among others. Stephenson’s most prolific spell came at Chorley where he scored 62 goals in 157 games.

During his time at Chester, Stephenson played alongside fellow new Nomads, Iwan Murray.

On signing for The Nomads, Stephenson commented; “I am delighted to sign for Connah’s Quay Nomads - it marks another exciting new chapter in my footballing journey and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of a positive and ambitious group. I’m looking forward to seeing the fans and working hard, helping the team win matches and score some goals - I’m excited to get started!”

First Team Manager, John Disney added; “We are delighted to bring Darren in for the upcoming season and European campaign.

Darren is a player who has had a fantastic career in England and was a real coup for Flint last season - in my view he was a main part of how they played last year and is so versatile across the front line.

In the game against us last August he showed all of his attributes and caused us real issues. Since then I have kept tabs on Darren and after welcoming him into the group it’s clear what a fantastic person he is and he will bring some real experience in to ourselves in the front line.”
