Nomads to face Saints in League Cup Second Round

Monday night's draw for the Nathaniel MG Cup Second Round saw The Nomads drawn against The New Saints.

In a repeat of last season's Second Round draw, the two teams that finished first and second in the JD Cymru Premier will face off in the opening competitive domestic fixture for both sides.

Both teams have been involved in European action so far this campaign and as with the rest of the JD Cymru Premier teams were afforded a bye in the First Round which took place this past weekend.

The Northern Section First Round saw Buckley Town, Guislfield, Bangor 1876, Porthmadog Chirk AAA and Ruthin Town progress whilst Swansea City, Taffs Well, Llantwit Major, Afan Lido, Briton Ferry, Cardiff City and Llanelli qualify for the second round.

Last season's encounter was Neil Gibson's first game in charge of The Nomads having been appointed Manager just 48 hours prior to kick off following Craig Harrison's departure from the club. Mike Wilde would give The Nomads an early lead before Ryan Brobbel equalised for TNS, but The Nomads would come out on top thanks to a penalty shootout victory at Deeside Stadium last August.

This season's fixture will take place at Park Hall Stadium, just one week before we get our league campaign gets underway at the same venue. The official date is yet to be confirmed but will likely see the fixture take place on Saturday 5th August with TNS still featuring in Europe earlier that week.
