New Contracts For Disney and Hogan

Connah’s Quay Nomads are delighted to confirm that club captain John Disney and young forward Luca Hogan have both signed new contracts, which will take them into the 2024/25 season and beyond.

John Disney, who was announced as the new club captain following George Horan’s departure at the start of the 2023/24 season, has certainly made his mark with the armband this season.

The midfielder is currently fifth in the club’s appearance listing, has played 2,439 minutes of First Team football this season and has kept eight clean sheets as The Nomads eye another successful JD Cymru Premier campaign in order to progress into European football.

Alongside his outstanding performances on the pitch, Disney is also the head coach of our talented U18s side, who are currently sat in fourth-place in the Cymru Premier Development North, so this new contract will also be a stepping stone for Disney and his coaching career.

"Signing the new contract was an easy decision to make." says Disney. "It’s a privilege to be the club captain. We’ve got a really good group and hopefully we can keep that moving forward.

"It’s definitely been the togetherness of this team that has brought us to where we are today. If you look at it as a whole, obviously Jordan Davies has been flying in the goalscoring charts, but the stats also show everyone has chipped in with assists. It’s been a collective effort from everyone who is involved in the 18/19 man squad.

"Gibbo has helped me massively to become captain, and it’s a pleasure for me to show this on and off the pitch. I think I was Andy Morrison’s first signing at the club, so he always knew what I was about and I’ve learned so much from both managers, so signing this contract was one of the easiest I’ve had to make.

"I’m hoping we can confirm our place in Europe as soon as possible and if we can win the Welsh Cup this season, that would be brilliant. Reaching Europe is the aim, and it will remain the main aim for the seasons ahead."

Also signing a new contract with The Nomads is Luca Hogan, who is one of the most highly rated teenagers in the Welsh football youth scene at the minute. Hogan returned to The Nomads in January following an impressive loan spell with fellow JD Cymru Premier side Aberystwyth Town - a spell which saw him score his first ever senior goal in the Welsh top flight.

The youngster has been included in the First Team matchday squad four times since returning to the club and will continue to play a key part when needed as The Nomads look to confirm their place in Europe in Phase Two and look forward to a second consecutive JD Welsh Cup semi-final.

Hogan is just 18 years old, meaning he will also continue to excel for our U18s and U21s. He is no doubt one of the brightest talents across North Wales at the minute, so the club are delighted to have him on board for next season.

On signing his new contract, Hogan said: "I’m really happy to sign another contract at The Nomads.

"I love my football here and I’ve really enjoyed it during the past few seasons so yes I’m really happy to sign a new contract. I think I can only get better from here because of the training and the coaching. I’m happy with how I’m developing as a player under the manager, his staff and my teammates as well."

Congratulations to both John and Luca on your new contracts, we’re happy to have you on board for the future!
