Rhys Healey speaks out

Rhys Healey started with Nomads under 16's 2 seasons ago. He is talented striker who can beat defenders with ease and has a great finish. Since joining Nomads, Rhys has gone from strength to strength and last season (2011/12), he made his first team debut, played representative football with the North East Wales FA and had trials at Stoke City and Manchester City.

Rhys also finished last season as top scorer for Nomads Championship winning Reserve team and has joined Nomads first team squad for this season.

This interview with Manager Mark McGregor, took place several weeks into the pre season fixtures. Since then, Rhys has emerged as the Nomads top scorer in pre season games so far, with 5 goals, including a hat-trick against Glantraeth.

Q. Is it good to be back after the couple of months of the closed season break?

A. We got brought in earlier, so I only had a short break. But yeah its great to be back training, I missed the football and the banter with all the lads!

Q. What do you think of the first few pre season games of the season?

A. the pre season is going good so far. Fitness is improving and the lads are doing well. We’re all looking sharp and more fit and ready for the season to start. It’s going to be a good test. We have done well in the first 2 pre season games and came away with 2 wins, so hopefully we can continue to progress in the other games that are coming up.

Q. What do you think the season holds for you and the club?

A. If I do well for the club and team does well throughout the season, the club will progress onto bigger and better things.

Q. Tell us about your sense of humour and what you enjoy away from football ?

A. Basically, I laugh at anything that's funny really, especially going out with friends and having lots of banter. I also like going to the gym to keep fit and going out with few friends - and having a game of football !!!

Q. Which do you think was your best game for Nomads so far?

A. My best game for Nomads so far will have to be against Rhyl U 19s in the Welsh Youth Cup last season, when I scored the overhead kick. That was my best game so far. Hopefully there are many more to come.
