New schools programme to launch

Connah's Quay Nomads are delighted to announce that we are partnering with four schools in the local community to provide football training sessions over the next school term.

We have partnered up with Ysgol Wepre, Ysgol Bryn Deva, Golftyn CP and Venerable Edward Morgan School in Flintshire to deliver some great after school football sessions for local pupils.

The sessions are aimed at boys and girls in years three, four, five and six and there will be a free tournament at The Quay 3G after five weeks with medals for all players and trophies for the winners.

This will be the first term of what we hope will be a year-long partnership with the local schools and hopefully we can help get more local youngsters playing football and keeping fit.

Director of Football, Jay Catton commented; "Our community department has gone from strength to strength in the last two years, even with the challenges faced during the pandemic.

With our Head of Community Jordan Parry now in a full time position aided by key community staff Stephen Boyes, Denver Green, Andrew Molyneux and Eliot Hale, we as a club have been able to engage in even more community projects - our weekly programmes that take place at The Quay 3G and Coleg Cambria indoor sports hall now include vets football, walking football, girls specific sessions, junior boys sessions and soccer tots sessions for 2-4 year olds.

We have had a schools programme in place for over 12 months but due to Covid regulations within schools, we been unable to start, so we are over the moon to announce this partnership with four key Deeside primary schools which will begin in March.

The program will see all schools receive weekly sessions as part of a five week training program, at school sites for boys and girls in years 3-6 with the sessions being taken by community staff and aided by Connah's Quay Nomads First Team Players. To conclude the programme all schools will take part in a community festival together at The Quay 3G.

We are really excited to finally get our schools program back underway and hopefully this will grow and include even more schools in the Deeside and Flintshire area moving forward and continue to grow relationships with key partners in the local area."
