An insight into the impressive campaign of The Nomads Women so far

It has been the dream first half of the season for The Nomads Women in the Genero Adran North as Jordan Parry’s side currently sit seven points clear at the top of the table following seven straight wins.

A transition into a younger group was a huge experiment ahead of the campaign, but it is safe to say the project has certainly paid off so far.

New captain Polly Wild-McGregor has excelled in her role with 10 league goals to her name - the first of any player in the division to reach double figures.

Ella Jones, Tia Lockley, Nicole Samson, Anna Marsh, Natasha Spearing and Keira Hardstaff have also played their part in all of the successes so far, while January signings Poppy Kendrick-Jones and Ellie Suckley are settling in nicely.

"We are way ahead of where I thought we would be when starting this season,” said manager Jordan Parry.

"I had a clear plan. I reflected on myself, what the team needed, what staff I could bring in to increase the support and what my game model was going to be. I had to align all of the above with an expectation which was to finish in the top half of the Adran North.

"I have done this long enough now to know how this league works and what challenges it possesses, especially in and around the winter period. League position means nothing in January, and our mindset is to keep working hard each week so we can aim for that top half of the table."

During the stellar run of form, The Nomads have set a new club record for consecutive league wins. That streak was stretched to 10 matches last Sunday as braces from Alisha Whitehead-Hughes and Elana Harley inspired a 6-0 win at NFA.

That result also saw The Nomads reach 20 goals scored in the last four away matches in all competitions.

The attacking threat is dangerous, but the defensive side of things has also been a standout factor this season as we have conceded just four goals in those seven league wins, emphasising how well things have glued together in the transition so far.

After his team triumphed over NFA, Parry said: "The first game back after Christmas always provides its challenges and huge credit has to go to the players, including those in the leadership group who have kept active and demanded great levels of fitness and quality.

"We executed our game plan really well against NFA. Although we were frustrated not to have scored more, we were pleased with the most important thing, that being all three points.

"For the second half of the season, we are just looking to continue building momentum. I am just very fortunate to work with his group of players. They have made it so enjoyable and I could not be prouder to manage them."

One of the toughest matches Parry's side have been involved in this season was against newly-promoted Flint Town United.

After a topsy turvy encounter, our first clash against the Silkwomen looked to be ending in a draw, but there were dramatic stoppage-time scenes at The Poppies 3G as Aimee Redfern popped up with a terrific winning goal to clinch a 3-2 victory.

Our next Genero Adran North fixture is against Flint at the Essity Stadium, which is also the home of our Men’s First Team.

We will face Flint on Sunday, 26 January at 2pm, and Parry is hoping his side can be consistent once again to secure another crucial win.

"Our last game against Flint was good for the neutral," he said. "It was frustrating for ourselves as their goals came from two of our mistakes on transition, but that last minute winner tells you a lot about this group.

"It is not luck, it is consistency. Turning up to training and matchdays in the right manner is our choice of not giving in.

"It will go down as a derby on Sunday, but every other game in this league has the same importance. We will play the game with our feet firmly on the ground, ready to work hard as a team and most importantly for one another. Culture is key and my team has that nailed on this season."

We hope to see many of you at the Essity Stadium on Sunday. For just £3, you can come and watch our talented group in action as we aim to make it an eighth straight win and maintain our lead at the top of the table.

This match will be a part of a double header against Flint Town United with our Men’s First Team starting their Phase Two campaign in the JD Cymru Premier a day prior on Saturday at 2:30pm.
