McCoy Marks Second Deadline Day Signing For Nomads

Connah’s Quay Nomads are delighted to announce the signing of 19-year-old midfielder Adam McCoy.

McCoy has been training with The Nomads First Team for the past couple of weeks following his release from Northern Premier League side Clitheroe.

Adam spent the majority of his formative years at Burnley’s Academy where he progressed through the age groups and featuring for the club’s U21 side in the FA Youth Cup and Premier League 2 last season.

On the arrival of Adam, First Team Manager John Disney commented; “We are delighted to welcome Adam  to the football club - he follows Callum West and Frankie Deane as players who have had a fantastic footballing upbringing at Burnley, continuing their next steps here at Connahs Quay Nomads.

Adam was given a fantastic reference to me from someone who knows what we are about and how we try and develop players in former left-back, Kris Owens.  Adam has been in training with us for a number of weeks now after trialling at a Scottish Premier League club and a few EFL clubs in pre-season and with each and every session has continued to keep getting sharper and fitter and now is really up to speed with the rest of our squad.

Adam has a real desire and passion to play football and we agreed this deal before the bank holiday weekend’s games but unfortunately the paperwork didn’t come through in time for him to feature in any of those games.

Adam is a real technician with a bite in his game and he is a player who can operate anywhere in midfield. He had a first taste of men’s football with a short spell at Clitheroe last season and understands the demands the senior game brings - he is someone I truly believe will contribute to ourselves and will bring something different into the club and on the pitch.  

Adam was sought after from a number of clubs and we are delighted he has decided to continue his journey with ourselves at Connahs Quay, I am really looking forward to keep working with himself."

Disney concluded; "Adam becomes our twelfth and final new signing of the summer transfer window which again with the change to our programme I must thank the football club and owner for backing and special thanks to Jack for all of his work recruitment wise and Nathan Beal our secretary who has worked above and beyond to ensure all of this has gone as smooth as possible.”
