Deadline Day Double for Nomads

Connah's Quay Nomads can today confirm the signing of Sam Durrant and Olly Wright.

The pair both put pen to paper on deals before the closing of the transfer window on Monday night and we can now confirm their arrival.

Olly Wright is a 23-year-old creative central midfielder who can also play at full back if required and spent a good portion of last season at National League side Altrincham having spent much of his youth career in Burnley's Academy.

On joining the club, Wright commented; "I'm really happy to join the club - I'm excited to get going now and to finish the season as strong as we can."

Sam Durrant is a 22-year-old winger who joins having most recently played for Dundalk in the Irish League. Durrant featured 28 times, scoring twice for the Irish side before departing in November.

Sam played for both Liverpool and Everton youth teams before joining Blackburn Rovers where he would spend four years. He would then go on to sign for Sheffield Wednesday where he would make his debut on the final day of the 2022/23 season against Derby County.

Durrant has also featured for the Sri Lanka national team, achieving six international caps, including two in the Asia Cup Qualifiers, training a handful of times under ex-Nomads Manager Andy Morrison.

On joining The Nomads, Sam commented; "I'm buzzing to sign for The Nomads and can't wait to get started with the lads and hopefully help the team out to finish the season off well."

Both players have already received international clearance meaning they will be available for Saturday's home fixture against Briton Ferry Llansawel. Wright will wear the number 8 shirt, whilst Durrant will wear 10.

On the airs arrival, First Team Head Coach Billy Paynter added; "Olly is a technical midfielder - got an eye for a pass and always gives an option for teammates on the ball. He also has very good quality with set pieces.

Sam is a tricky player who likes to dribble under pressure and is brave to run at players - something that I feel we have missed since Fumpa has been injured."
