Connah’s Quay Nomads Women were crowned Genero Adran North champions for the first time after storming to victory over NFA at The Poppies 3G on Sunday afternoon.
The Nomads instantly applied the pressure and came ever so close to taking the lead through Ella Jones, who had her close-range effort cleared off the line by Amy Webster.
However, it would not be long before the opening goal arrived as captain Polly Wild-McGregor latched onto a through ball from Jones and found the back of the net for her 21st league goal of the season despite NFA goalkeeper Courtney Ingram getting a strong hand to the ball.
A moment of brilliance from Evie Chard then doubled the advantage midway through the first half as she was left unmarked from Elana Harley’s corner, which allowed the defender to pick out the bottom corner with a sweetly-struck volley.
Some costly errors from the goalkeepers allowed Anna Marsh to net a clinical seven-minute hat-trick as Jordan Parry’s side opened up a five-goal lead at the break.
Parry then made all five substitutions heading into the second half as Aimee Redfern, Keira Hardstaff, Sophie Hodson, Mel Barlow and Meg Andrews all entered the pitch.
Hodson made an instant impact down the left hand side, assisting Jones, who finally got her name on the scoresheet and several chances had come her way throughout the contest.
An own goal from Webster made it seven, before thumping finishes from Hardstaff and Poppy Kendrick-Jones extended our lead further.
Kendrick-Jones set up Hardstaff again in the 72nd minute as the midfielder bagged a brace, while Natasha Spearing got in on the act by calmly tucking away a rebound.
The scoring fun was complete in the 86th minute as Kendrick-Jones fired home from a tight angle for her fourth goal in three matches.
A 12th straight league victory meant The Nomads’ title of Genero Adran North champions was officially confirmed as players, staff and families flooded into The Poppies 3G to join in with the celebrations.
The Nomads enjoy these celebrations for the time being, but a tough trip to second-place Llanfair United awaits them in two weeks, and with the title already secured, the aim to achieve a perfect record will be the next task.
